How To Use Your RSS Article Feed URL To Power An Apple News Channel
Note: Per Apple, if your publication contains paid subscriptions, it cannot be included in Apple News.
Getting Your Digital Edition Article Content Into Apple News Can Be Done In Three Easy Steps:
1. Sign up for an iCloud News Publisher account at https://www.icloud.com/newspublisher/.
2. Copy the appropriate RSS Feed URL from your Publisher Dashboard.
3. Paste the RSS Feed into iCloud News Publisher.
Determine Your Apple News Strategy
You can get your content into Apple News using RSS Feeds. Though you may not yet have taken advantage of this long-standing feature, we provide RSS Feeds for each of the articles within your digital edition.
Since Apple’s announcement of iOS 9, our developers have updated those feeds for optimal use within Apple News.
Before you get started, you will need to decide whether you want to make your full article content available to readers of Apple News or whether you would prefer to tease with a few paragraphs before requiring the reader to continue into your digital edition.
Providing full content will allow users of Apple News to all article content without having to visit the digital edition at all. (Note: the reader will have the option to scroll through to the digital edition even when full content is provided within Apple News.)
Providing partial content will present the first few paragraphs within each of your articles, but will require the reader to scroll through to the digital edition – and pass any authentication or subscription requirements you might have – before seeing the full content. (Note: the reader does not have to leave the Apple News App if you choose this option, as the digital edition will display directly within the App itself.)
